BRE Green
Guide, third edition, gives all brick claddings the highest 'A'
rating with the longest life expectancy of all external cladding
materials..........
Unfired clay
bricks have excellent sustainability credentials – low energy
input, very low waste, are fully recyclable..........
A 'quick build'
structural perforated
clay block which provides excellent thermal and acoustic
properties essential for a truly sustainable building
The “secret” of the thermal insulation of POROTHERM
clay blocks is the air trapped in the many
small pores. At the brick plant, the clay is
first prepared, then, for example, sawdust
is added. The clay is shaped, dried
and fired at approximately 1000 °C.
When the sawdust burns away without residue,
it leaves countless tiny holes. These
enclosed air pores provide the thermal
insulation. The porosity of the clay
blocks and a carefully designed
hole geometry intelligently reduce the flow
of heat and thereby heat losses through
exterior walls.
Permeable Paving
reduces the damage effects of storm water run off and enables any
run off to be harvested for 'grey water' applications..........
Produced from
secondary recycled aggregates manufactured in ISO 14001 compliant
factories and certificated by BRE Certification through their
Environmental Profiles Scheme, this comprehensive range of products
enables architects and specifiers to design sustainable buildings
with confidence.
Enviromasonry
surpasses the generic product data within the Green Guide to
Specification , the raw materials used within the product are
specially selected for their environmental performance and the
products comply with all European and UK technical standards.
Legislation such as
BB93 (Building Bulletin 93) and the England and Wales part E, 2003,
all now make reference to reverberation times within buildings.
One of the best
ways to satisfy this legislation for an enclosed space is through
the largest surface area - the walls.
